Rental Car Availability in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia is still extremely limited. Cars are available to rent in Maine but one must bring the car on board the ferry. Our car-free program is operating seamlessly.
Start your trip with comfortable Downeaster travel service to Brunswick, ME and transfer to Bar Harbor, ME, the home of Acadia National Park. Enjoy your choice of tour in Acadia along with free time to peruse downtown Bar Harbor. Next, board the CAT ferry to from Bar Harbor to Yarmouth Nova Scotia. Overnight in Yarmouth. On Day 2 you will depart Yarmouth and transfer to Halifax. Along the way, you will make stops in Historic Lunenburg, Mahone Bay and Shelburne. The following day in Halifax will be spent on your choice of tour, where you will pass through this vibrant city viewing historic buildings and modern high rises lining the street, visit the Victoria Public Gardens, and much more, plus you will visit Peggy’s Cove in the afternoon. On the following day, transfer/tour from Halifax to Yarmouth where you will spend the night. After your night in Yarmouth, you will travel back to Bar Harbor aboard the CAT ferry. Your arrival time is about 13:00 (1:00PM) so we will take you down the coast towards Boston for an overnight in Portland, ME. You may also choose from Brunswick or Freeport.
With the Ferry’s switch to Bar Harbor, the distance to the ferry has increased significantly. We suggest at least one overnight in Bar Harbor on any package due to the distance and time needed to travel and board the ferry. Boston to Bar Harbor is about 5.5 hours drive with no stops. For those taking the train from Boston, we can add on transfers and hotel nights in Boston. We can keep it all on one itinerary.

- *In Halifax and Acadia National Park we have included the standard public tour. This may be upgraded to private touring. You may also change the Acadia National Park tour with a Bar Harbor Culinary Walking Tour.
- *You may add on a rental car at various points to lower your overall cost. Our deluxe car-free package is by far the best version of our packages due to all driving and touring done by our local partners

DELUXE CAR-FREE ITINERARY: (Other versions available)
Day 1 – Travel by rail to Brunswick, ME where a private transfer will be waiting to bring you from the train station to Bar Harbor for a two-night stay.
Day 2 – Enjoy either a private tour or choice of two public tours of Acadia National Park followed by an afternoon at your leisure in Bar Harbor. (Add on an option lobster boat ride or sunset cruise)
Day 3 – Board the CAT Ferry to Yarmouth, NS where you will spend two nights in Yarmouth. The ferry is about 3.5 hours.
Day 4 – At 10:00AM, a local driver guide will greet you at your hotel for a scenic tour/transfer along the South Shore of Nova Scotia featuring Lunenburg, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Arrive in Halifax for two-night stay.
Day 5 – Enjoy either a private deluxe city tour of Halifax and a tour of Peggy’s Cove or a public tour with others. You will have free time in the afternoon.
Day 6 – Say goodbye to Halifax and head back to Yarmouth with your driver along the North Shore of Nova Scotia called the Evangeline Trail featuring Grand Pre, the second UNESCO World Heritage site. Overnight in Yarmouth.
Day 7 – Board the CAT Ferry in the morning for your return to Maine. A driver will greet you at the ferry terminal for your transfer down the coast to Portland. (You may also choose Freeport or Brunswick) (Overnight in Portland, Freeport or Brunswick)
Day 8 – Transfer to the train station to take the Amtrak Downeaster from Portland back to Boston. We can also book airport transfers in Boston.
NOTE: Must depart Boston on a Tues., Fri., or Sat., in May June, September and October.
